Batik Bone Beads are distinguishable by their unique geometric patterns and contrasting black/ white or brown/ white colors. The patterning is achieved using a centuries old wax-resist dying technique known as "Batik" or "mudcloth dying".
Genuine African Batik Bone Beads are made individually, meaning no two are ever identical.
These barrel shaped Batik Bones are no exception. Each bead has a completely unique and expressive pattern with the dark areas varying from black to light brown.
Starting with the shape---very specific and a little odd, I made earrings with these beads as the focal point with two strands coming out of this bead. One was chain and the other was knotted seeds. It turned out cool and I get a lot of inquiries if I sell!
